Why we blog

I often say that our collective job as an ad agency is to tell stories. When we tell the right story to the right consumer, we can impact their purchase decision – online or in-store. The same holds true with a brand’s decision-making process in choosing an ad agency. Who are they? What are they about? Do they feel like the right match for my company? These questions are best answered face-to-face, usually around a rather large conference room table. But how do you connect prior to that first meeting? Sometimes, it’s through blogging.

RAISING OUR PROFILE
Our savviest marketing technology blogs all have one thing in common – they are written by our guru of the latest marketing trends, RITTA COO, Kevin. As an expert in utilizing SEO/SEM, Kevin peppers his informative blogs with words and phrases specifically designed to elevate RITTA in Google searches, all while positioning our agency as being ahead of the curve when it comes to the latest marketing strategies.

RAISING AWARENESS
I wrote a blog detailing my recent recovery from breast cancer. My aim was twofold. It was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I wanted to encourage women to get mammograms. I also sought, by being extremely candid, to remove some of the fear the word “cancer” conjures up. The response was terrific and I got emails from women telling me how I inspired them to make appointments (one woman hadn’t had a mammo in 10 years).

RAISING CHILDREN
Many of us at RITTA who have children know that there is always the opportunity for a teaching moment. RITTA designer Jen took her tweens to lower Manhattan to see the 9/11 Museum and provided a thought-provoking blog about how to talk with kids about terrorism. RITTA account supervisor Paula took us through dreaded annual school supply shopping – in July! RITTA digital production manager, Tony blogged about taking his twin daughters to see one of his personal meteors on display at the Museum of Natural History. Conversely, we too are children who are not too old to learn from our parents. RITTA traffic manager, Damian, provided a tender Father’s Day blog where he shared how his late father’s voice in his head gave him the confidence to build a fence from scratch.

RAISING EYEBROWS
Many social taboos have been broken in advertising that are blog-worthy. From cursing (Frank’s Red Hot Sauce), to revealing women’s unfulfilled libidos (Lunya lingerie), to admitting our kids and school snow days drive us to drink (Campbell’s Soup) – if it’s memorable and groundbreaking, we’ll blog about it. And, we give equal time to truly bad marketing efforts. Retargeting efforts can be disastrous. Case in point, one our junior account execs (who still lived at home) had researched fertility clinics for a client and was retargeted through a direct mail piece congratulating her on being pregnant (she was not), complete with coupons for Pampers.

RAISING THE BAR
For close to 40 years, RITTA has been successful at marketing premium brands. We also always have opinions on our industry and the world at large. So scroll through our blog and you are sure to learn something about marketing and about us.
